Slavica Petrovska - Galik, coloratura soprano, opera and concert soloist.
M.A.. Graduated from the Skopje Music Academy with Prof. Kosta Trpkov. Started concert performances as a student at concerts organized by the school. Participant of the Tchaikovsky international competition 1982 in Moscow. Spent one year of specialization at Leningrad Conservatoire in 1986. During her stay in Russia her talent earned her performances in two opera productions of the Rubinstein Theater in Leningrad: Violetta Valery in `La traviata` and Rosina in `Il barbiere di Siviglia` as well as in several soloist concerts. Ms. Petrovska - Galik successfully debuted on the MOB Opera stage as Barbarina in `Le nozze di Figaro` (W. A. Mozart). As an opera critic put it: `... Her small aria sounded like pearls tingling ...`
Following a year long engagement with the Maribor Opera house in Slovenia where Petrovska - Galik performed as Blonde and Konstanze in W. A. Mozart`s `Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail`, she returned to Skopje and the MOB. Role after role, success after success, brought her the honorable title of prima donna.
The critics frequently praised her performances, both concert and opera: `... An rare artistic outburst ...`, `...Technical perfection full of deepest emotions...`, `...Back to the true values: S. Petrovska - Galik has a voice with perfect vocal nuances, extraordinary pianissimo, and cultivated sense for concert performance on highest level...`.
Ms. Petrovska - Galik was appointed Artistic Director of the MOB Opera during the 2002-2005 period with productions of `Carmen`, `Nabucco`, Ivan Susanin, `Old Lady`s visit`, `Il matrimonio segreto`, `Madama Butterfly`, `Tosca`, `Die fledermaus`, and `Lydia of Macedonia` being staged at that time (some of them were staged for the very first time in Macedonia). Slavica Petrovska - Galik had performed in all bigger music centers of former Yugoslavia (Belgrade, Zagreb, Novi Sad, Osijek, Rijeka, Maribor, Bled), as well in Bulgaria (Sofia, Plovdiv, Blagoevgrad), Greece (Thessalonika), Denmark (Copenhagen), Russia (S. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod), Italy (Rome), Lithuania (Vilnius, Kaunas), France, Germany, etc. She also performed at festivals in Macedonia (the Ohrid Summer Festival, the Skopje Summer. the Bitola Summer) and many other events. Slavica Petrovska - Galik for her achievements in the nations culture received the highest national award `11 Oktomvri` in 2002.
