The Brzhdani Monastery which was positioned in the region Bogorojnichka Krasta stays an enigma up to present days. The information of its existence is scarce and it is mostly of spoken tradition. The locality is not explored enough and unfortunately holes made by pot-hunters, looking for valuable objects, can be noticed.
The monastery, which probably was dedicated to St. Mary, is located on a hill between the villages of Brzhdani and Svinjishta, hidden from the looks of passers –by on the road from Kichevo to Bitola. The location is 10km away from Kichevo. It can be reached from the village of Brzhdani. It takes 30 minutes of walking to get to the monastery and it can only be reached on foot. A lot of legends about the place have been criss-crossed, among which the one about the strange light which the villagers have often noticed as it moves from the place of the old monastery to the place of the village church or to the monastery Holy St. Mary (of Kichevo), which is located on the opposite mountain, towards Kichevo. Walking on the narrow path, emerge the ruins of the old monastery, which was not very big and even though it is in ruins, the contours of the entrance and the altar are clearly visible.
The monastery is quite old, at least 500 years old. Unofficially it was the ancestor of the present monastery Holy St. Mary before it was moved. The legends say that the monastery was surrounded by defensive walls.
