The territory of Stojakovo was inhabited since ancient time, and a witness for that are the many archeological findings found in its area. The first location of Stojakovo was in Shipkov dol, near the todays settlement. The old name of this settlement was Trnova. But a few centuries ago the inhabitants had to abandon their houses and search for a new place to live because of the plague. The place where they had inhabited was the territory where today is Stojakovo.
The name Stojakovo had been given later, because this settlement was located near the main road that was connecting very important regions (a road that was used since ancient time, Belgrade – Thessaloniki), and here were spending the night many merchants. The first name of the settlement was Stojakot (a place where you can stay, or spend the night, and later the name was changed to Stojakovo, which is also using today).
The inhabitants of Stojakovo are occupied with cultivating agricultural products (mostly early vegetables and fruits) because of the warm weather and the strong Mediterranean influences that are present in this region. It is also present the cultivating of vines from which is producing quality wine and schnapps.
