Mavrovo Lake

The Mavrovo Lake is in the northwest part of the Republic of Macedonia. It is located on 1200 m above the sea level among the wood and high mountains. On south is enclosed with the woody and grassy Vlainica, and on north with Sara Mountain.

The Lake of Dojran

The Dojran Lake is positioned in the south – east of Macedonia. On the north, the lake’s basin is enclosed with the mountains Belasica and Boska Planina. The Dojran Lake extends on a surface of 43.1km2, of which 27.3km2 belong to Macedonia, and 15.8km2 belong to Greece. It is the smallest of the valley lakes in Macedonia with maximum depth of 10m. The Dojran Lake is the warmest lake. The high atmospheric and the high water temperatures are conditioned by the close proximity to the Aegean Sea.

Peshna cave, Makedonski Brod

The Peshna cave that is located at 6 km from Makedonski Brod, is one of the most attractive natural beauties that unfortunately are not discovered and known not only for the foreign tourists, but also for the inhabitants of Macedonia. This cave that is known only by few people, it is an undiscovered treasure and completely unused tourist attraction, although it was proclaimed as a natural monument. According to the speleologists, Peshna is a cave with biggest cave entrance on the Balkan – the flooring of the opening is 30 m high.

The waterfalls of Gjenevica

From the spring that is at an altitude of about 1400m above the sea level, to the flowing in the river Radika at about 650m above the sea level, the river Gjenevica is flowing along for 8km, through meadows, wood and rocks, making waterfalls and cascades. The impressive part is its canyon, which is not completely available because of the impassable field.

The cave Alilica, Tresonche village

Have you ever heard about a cave with lakes, waterfalls and huge galleries full with stalactites and stalagmites in it? Sounds incredible, but it is true. In the vicinity of the village Tresonche near Debar, in a beautiful nature wrapped up with thick deciduous forest, is located the beautiful speleological beauty called Dolna Alilica (Lower Alilica).

The Ohrid Lake

Observing the Ohrid Lake in any season as it is illuminated by the sun; one gets the impression of the lake coming to existence just then, and the millions years, as it really is old, as if they don’t exist. In its blue waters there are flora and fauna, which are known about only from the fossils.

Globochica Lake - Tashmarunishta, Globochica

The Globochica Lake is located in the West part of Macedonia on the river Crn Drim, about 30km north from Struga.

Sipkovo Waterfalls, Pehchevo

The dense pine and beech forest at the Maleshevo Mountains from the side of the city of Pehchevo had been hiding for centuries the seven waterfalls at the sources of the river Bregalnica, the biggest river in the east part of Macedonia. Only two of the waterfalls belong to this river, and the others are on its influents, the rivers Crni Dol, Zholtachka and Sipkovski Andak.


The region of Mariovo was populated since ancient times, and it was also part of Ancient Macedonia, and a witness to that are the many fortresses and the findings of shields and other objects from the Ancient period.
